What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years. Today the therapeutic properties of CBD are being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world. A safe, non-addictive substance, CBD is one of more than hundred “phytocannabinoids”, which are unique to cannabis and endow the plant with its robust therapeutic profile.
What are cannabinoids?
A Cannabinoid is a chemical compound that acts on cell receptors that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain. These include endocannabinoids that are produced naturally in the body, synthetic
Is there a difference between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil?
Hemp Oil is most commonly sourced from the Cannabis Sativa (Industrial Hemp) plant seed. It is also called Hemp Oil or Hemp Seed Oil. Hemp Oil is regulated in its production and is tested for THC and CBD levels, however it does not contain either of those Cannabinoids. Test have shown that there are no cannabinoids present in the seeds of the hemp plant. Hemp Oil is referred to as a Superfood, because of the high levels of Omegas which are naturally found in a 3:1 ratio, Vitamins, and other Nutrients. It may also assist with Pain, and stress due to its naturally occurring nutrients. Hemp Oil is also excellent for Hair and skin thanks to all of those Omegas and Vitamins! CBD Oil, often referred to as Hemp Extract is an oil with naturally occurring terpenes, flavonoids, Cannabinoids, and other beneficial phytonutrients from the hemp plant. This CO2 extracted CBD Oil is free of harmful solvents and uses a gentle, low temperature, alcohol free extraction process that yields the purest form of CBD Oil available. This clean oil extraction process yields a high quality extracted CBD oil retaining a broad spectrum of terpenes, Cannabinoids, and other phyto-compounds derived from the Cannabis Sativa industrial hemp plant like CBD Oil.
What are Terpenes?
Terpenes are naturally occurring aromatic oils produced buy a variety of plants, including cannabis. Some common terpenes in cannabis also appear in other plant species you might recognize.
What is the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?
Cannabis contains a variety of different compounds called Cannabinoids, two of the most dominant are Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD). Both Cannabinoids have shown to provide profound benefits to the human body; however, THC induces psychoactive effects (gets the user “high”), while CBD does not contain any psychoactive properties.
What is Broad Spectrum CBD?
Broad spectrum CBD is a bit of a mix between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate. Like Full Spectrum CBD, the other compounds found within the plant are preserved in the extract; however, like CBD Isolate, THC is completely removed. It can deliver the enhanced benefits of the “entourage effect”, without the risk of psychoactive effects of THC.
What is CBD Isolate?
In scientific terms, an isolate is he purest for of a compound, which is produced by singularly extracting that compound from its environment and isolating it from all other compounds. CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD, which is produced by removing all other compounds found in the plant including terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and other cannabinoids.
What does Full Spectrum CBD mean?
Full Spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids. The full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils extracted from the plant work together to magnify the therapeutic benefits of each individual cannabinoid. This is commonly referred to as the “entourage effect”.
Where do your brands grow their cannabis?
Reakiro hemp is grown in Spain and Lithuania.
Are whole plant extracts better than CBD isolate?
Depending on the purpose of the end-product, companies will choose to extract from a strain of Cannabis that best suits their needs. Once extracted, the company can then choose to refine the extract to contain only specific cannabinoids and plant parts. The contents of the refined extract are what determines if the CBD extract is full spectrum, broad spectrum, or CBD Isolate. Now, lets discuss what each term means and help point you in the best direction. What is CBD Isolate? In scientific terms, an isolate is the purest for of a compound, which is produced by singularly extracting that compound from its environment and isolating it from all other compounds. CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD, which is produced by removing all other compounds found in the plant including terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and other cannabinoids. It was previously believed that CBD in its isolated form was more effective than Full Spectrum CBD; however, in 2005, this theory was debunked by the study from the Lautenberg Center for General Tumor Immunology in Jerusalem. In the study, researchers found that test subjects administrated with full spectrum CBD were provided with higher levels of relief, compared to subjects administered with CBD isolate. In addition, results showed that full spectrum CBD provided enhanced effects with higher dosages, while the effects of CBD maintained consistent with increased dosages. There are many factors that determine how a cannabinoid will impact the body, such as the chemical makeup of the individual, the weight of the individual, and the individual’s history with other substances. For some, Broad Spectrum CBD may be the best choice as it delivers the full benefits of the Cannabis plant without the psychoactive effects of THC. For others, a high-dosage of pure CBD isolate may do the trick and others may need the benefits that only THC can provide. Research into the effectiveness of each spectrum at the individual level is still in its early stages, so it may take some time and experimenting to figure out which is best for you.
How does CBD Work?
Your body naturally produces its own endocannabinoids to support this system, but just like with any other nutrient, we can have a deficiency and may need extra support. This is where cannabis comes in. The cannabis plant produces phytocannabinoids that also interact with your endocannabinoid system. CBD is a phytocannabinoid derived from the cannabis and hemp plant. CBD derived from hemp is currently the only cannabinoid readily accessible. Unlike other cannabinoids, CBD does not bind to receptors in the endocannabinoid system. The most basic way CBD works with our body is by blocking the breakdown of our own endocannabinoids, allowing our bodies to use more of what it’s already naturally producing. CBD modulates non cannabinoid receptors as well. It directly activates the 5hT (serotonin receptor and acts as an atypical antipsychotic), binds directly to TRPV1 (Pain, inflammation, hypothalamus control). It blocks GPR55 (a 3rd cannabinoid type receptor) which through a series of events, decreases the breakdown of bone, acts as an antiseptic, prevents cancer cells from growing and many other things. CBD also changes the shape of the CB1, preventing THC from directly binding to it. This is why balanced strains of cannabis give less anxiety and paranoia; the CB1 receptors are not overstimulated by THC.
What is the “entourage effect”?
The “entourage effect” comes from the harmonic interaction among cannabinoids and terpenes. Together, they enhance properties of cannabis.
Will CBD get me “high”?
No. Absolutely not. Unlike another major cannabinoid THC, which is popular due to its euphoria inducing effects, CBD has no psychoactive effects whatsoever.
How does CBD interact with the endocannabinoid system?
Scientists discovered the endocannabinoid system almost by accident, (Mechoulam et al, 1990), and its two primary receptors: Cannabinoid 1, or CB1, and cannabinoid 2, or CB2. CB1 receptors are mainly located in the brain and central nervous system.CB2 receptors are concentrated in organs relating to the immune system. The endocannabinoid system plays a crucial role in regulating a broad range of physiological processes that affect our everyday experience – our mood, our energy level, our intestinal fortitude, immune activity, blood pressure, bone density, glucose metabolism, how we experience pain, stress, hunger, and more. What happens if the endocannabinoid system doesn’t function properly? What are the consequences of a chronically deficient or overactive endocannabinoid system? In a word, disease. Cutting-edge science has shown that the endocannabinoid system is dysregulated in nearly all pathological conditions. Thus, it stands to reason that “modulating endocannabinoid system activity may have therapeutic potential in almost all diseases affecting humans,” as Pal Pacher and George Kunos, scientists with the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), suggested in a 2014 publication. By modulating the endocannabinoid system and enhancing endocannabinoid tone, CBD can slow – or in some cases stop – disease progression.
Do I need a prescription for CBD?
CBD oil is sold without prescription unlike medical marijuana, which requires a medical card in the US and other countries. You can even order CBD oil online from the comfort of your home.
Will CBD show up on a Drug Test?
Please be aware that all of our products do contain a trace of THC that is less than 0.2% – within the legal level, and therefore could give a false positive on a road side or employer drug test. Upon a urine or blood test it should be apparent that there are high levels of CBD not THC however this would depend on the quality of the testing equipment being used and therefore if you feel this could in anyway affect your ability to pass a drug test or jeopardise your employment you should either discuss the matter with your employer or not take the products.
What is the best way to consume CBD?
There are three main ways of consumption: ingesting, inhalation and application. Ingestion consists of 2 ways: digestion – (edibles, beverages, capsules) and sublingual (tinctures and sprays). Inhalation – vaporizing, and application – transdermal patches and topicals (balms, sprays).
Can I vape Reakiro’s CBD oils?
Nope, you can not. CBD oils are not suited for vaporising.
Can vape oils be taken orally?
Vape oils are not made for sublingual or oral consumption (without a vape), this product is intended only to be vaped. The composition of CBD vape oil includes VG/PG in order for it to vaporise well. If you would prefer to consume CBD sublingually or orally we would recommend either CBD oil, spray, capsules, or raw hemp extract. These products contain all-natural ingredients and phytonutrients.
What is the right dosage of CBD? Can I take too much CBD?
We are all unique, some people prefer to take less, others more drops. We recommend that you consult with your doctor about right dosage for you. It is always advisable to begin with a lower dose of about 10-20 mg of Cannabidiol a day. But, do not exceed 130mg of CBD per day.
Can I drink alcohol with CBD?
Well, the first thing to keep in mind is that the interaction between CBD and alcohol hasn’t been rigorously researched. CBD affects everyone differently, so it’s a good idea to know how your body responds to it before you start adding it to your happy-hour order.
Can I take CBD with Pharmaceuticals?
This depends on which medicines you are taking. Be sure to ask your doctor about this.
Can I take CBD if I have an allergy?
If you have an allergy we suggest you consult your doctor before taking CBD.
Can I give CBD to my pet?
All mammals have an endocannabinoid system and as such, giving them cannabinoids should help promote wellbeing. HOWEVER, the Vets Association are (quite rightly) very protective about what we can say about treatment. If you’re unsure which product to choose, then you can join an independent consumer group on Facebook group such as Herbal Pets UK/EU, where users (or more accurately: the user’s humans) discuss which products they find useful.
